Frequently asked Questions
Here's a list of FAQs that will help you learn more about Astonous Services.
What is Astonous Continuous Care?

Astonous Continuous Care is a flexible Salesforce managed services and support programme.

It gives your business ongoing access to Salesforce expertise for administration, troubleshooting, development, integrations, user support, and CRM improvements. Depending on your needs, you can work with a shared consultant, a part-time resource, or a dedicated Salesforce team.

Who is Astonous Continuous Care designed for?

Continuous Care is suitable for organisations that use Salesforce but do not need—or cannot justify—the cost of a full-time internal Salesforce team.

It works particularly well for businesses that:

  • Do not have an internal Salesforce administrator
  • Have an administrator who needs technical support
  • Need occasional Salesforce development
  • Have a growing backlog of improvements
  • Want reliable support after implementation
  • Need access to different Salesforce skills at different times
  • Want to improve adoption and return on their Salesforce investment
Does Salesforce need ongoing support after implementation?

Yes. Salesforce continues to change after go-live as users join, business processes evolve, integrations change, new requirements arise, and Salesforce releases new platform functionality.

Without ongoing ownership, small issues can turn into data-quality problems, broken automation, frustrated users, and a growing backlog. Continuous Care gives your organisation a partner responsible for keeping Salesforce aligned with the business.

Can Astonous support a Salesforce org implemented by another consulting partner?

Yes. Your Salesforce org does not need to have been implemented by Astonous.

We can take over support from another Salesforce consulting partner, freelancer, former employee, or internal implementation team. We first review the current setup, documentation, code, integrations, known issues, and open requirements before beginning ongoing support.

Can you take over Salesforce support from our current partner?

Yes. We can manage the transition from your current Salesforce partner.

The process normally includes reviewing existing documentation, source code, environments, integrations, credentials, outstanding issues, release history, and current backlog. We then agree on priorities and create a practical transition plan to avoid disruption to users.

What is the difference between Salesforce managed services and Salesforce Support?

Salesforce Support primarily helps with the Salesforce platform and standard product issues covered by your Salesforce support plan.

A Salesforce managed services partner supports your specific CRM implementation. This includes your configuration, automation, custom code, integrations, users, reports, business processes, and ongoing enhancements.

When an issue requires Salesforce’s involvement, Astonous can help investigate it, prepare the required information, and coordinate with Salesforce Support.

How is Continuous Care different from hiring a full-time Salesforce administrator?

A full-time administrator may be the right choice when there is enough continuous work to keep that person occupied.

Many businesses, however, need a mixture of administration, development, integration, architecture, and user support—but not forty hours of any one skill every week. Continuous Care gives you access to the right Salesforce skills when they are needed, without having to hire separate full-time resources.

Is Continuous Care the same as a fractional Salesforce administrator?

A fractional Salesforce administrator is one option within the Continuous Care model.

A part-time or shared consultant can handle routine administration and coordinate with Salesforce developers or architects when more specialised work is required. This gives you broader expertise than relying on one individual for every Salesforce requirement.

Can we use a shared or part-time Salesforce consultant?

Yes. The shared model is designed for organisations that need reliable Salesforce support but do not require a full-time resource.

You receive an agreed amount of consulting capacity that can be used for administration, support, development, or improvements. This makes the service practical for small and mid-sized businesses with changing monthly requirements.

Will we work with one consultant or an entire team?

You will normally have a primary point of contact who understands your Salesforce org, users, priorities, and business processes.

That consultant is supported by the broader Astonous team. When a requirement needs development, integration, architecture, Experience Cloud, Agentforce, or another specialised skill, the appropriate expert can be brought in without requiring you to hire another resource.

What Salesforce services are included in Continuous Care?

The scope can include:

  • Salesforce administration
  • User and access management
  • Issue investigation and bug fixes
  • Flow and automation improvements
  • Apex and Lightning Web Component development
  • Reports and dashboards
  • Data cleanup and quality improvements
  • Integration monitoring and support
  • AppExchange application support
  • Release management
  • Documentation
  • User training
  • Security and permission reviews
  • New feature development
  • CRM roadmap planning

The exact scope is agreed according to your Salesforce environment and support plan.

What Salesforce administration tasks can Astonous handle?

Our Salesforce administration support can cover routine and ongoing activities such as:

  • Creating and deactivating users
  • Managing roles and permission sets
  • Updating fields and page layouts
  • Maintaining record types
  • Creating reports and dashboards
  • Managing queues and assignment rules
  • Updating email templates
  • Improving validation rules
  • Managing duplicate records
  • Supporting data imports
  • Troubleshooting user access
  • Maintaining Salesforce configuration

This allows your internal team to focus on the business rather than day-to-day CRM administration.

Can Continuous Care include Salesforce development?

Yes. Continuous Care is not limited to administrative support.

Our Salesforce developers can build or improve Apex, Lightning Web Components, Flow automation, scheduled processes, integrations, APIs, Experience Cloud functionality, and other custom features.

Before writing custom code, we first check whether the requirement can be handled using standard Salesforce capabilities.

Can you help us improve Salesforce instead of only fixing issues?

Yes. Continuous Care is intended to support both stability and innovation.

Along with resolving issues, we can help improve processes, remove manual work, introduce automation, redesign outdated functionality, improve reporting, and evaluate new Salesforce capabilities.

Your CRM roadmap can be reviewed regularly so that the most valuable improvements are prioritised.

Can you help manage our Salesforce improvement backlog?

Yes. We can help capture, review, estimate, and prioritise Salesforce requests.

The backlog may include user requests, defects, technical debt, reporting requirements, automation opportunities, integration changes, and strategic improvements. Priorities are agreed with your stakeholders based on business value, urgency, risk, and available capacity.

Can you support Salesforce integrations and connected systems?

Yes. We can monitor, troubleshoot, maintain, and improve integrations between Salesforce and other business systems.

This may include ERP, accounting, e-commerce, payment, marketing, shipping, document-management, warehouse, customer-support, and custom applications.

Integration support can cover authentication, data mapping, failed transactions, API errors, monitoring, performance, and changes introduced by either connected system.

Can you support AppExchange applications installed in our Salesforce org?

Yes. We can help configure and troubleshoot AppExchange applications used within your Salesforce environment.

When an issue is related to the application vendor’s managed package, we can investigate the surrounding Salesforce configuration, document the problem, and coordinate with the vendor’s support team.

Can Astonous support Salesforce Agentforce and AI initiatives?

Yes. We can help evaluate, implement, support, and improve Salesforce Agentforce and other AI-powered capabilities.

This may include identifying suitable use cases, preparing Salesforce data, configuring agent actions, improving prompts and instructions, reviewing security, monitoring results, and expanding successful use cases.

AI initiatives are prioritised based on practical business value rather than introducing AI where standard Salesforce automation would work better.

Can you fix problems in a poorly documented Salesforce org?

Yes. Many Salesforce environments have limited documentation, outdated automation, or functionality built by people who are no longer available. We begin by reviewing the org, understanding critical business processes, and identifying dependencies before making changes. Documentation is then created and improved as part of the ongoing support process.

Do you perform a Salesforce health check before support begins?

A Salesforce health check is normally recommended when Astonous did not implement the existing org or when its current condition is unclear.

The assessment may cover:

  • Salesforce configuration
  • Automation and custom code
  • Security and permissions
  • Data quality
  • Integrations
  • Technical debt
  • Deployment practices
  • Documentation
  • User experience
  • Open risks and known issues
How does the Continuous Care onboarding process work?

Onboarding normally begins with a discovery and knowledge-transfer process. We review your Salesforce environment, business processes, users, integrations, documentation, open issues, and improvement backlog. We also agree on communication channels, access, priorities, working hours, and the request-management process. This helps the assigned consultant understand both the technology and the business context behind it.

How do we submit Salesforce support requests?

Requests can be submitted through the agreed support or project-management channel. Each request should include the problem, affected users, business impact, expected outcome, and any relevant examples. Astonous reviews the request, asks for additional information where required, and confirms the next action. Larger enhancement requests may require analysis and estimation before work begins.

How are Salesforce requests prioritised?

Requests are normally prioritised according to business impact and urgency. Production issues affecting critical processes are handled before routine administration or planned improvements. Enhancement requests are reviewed with your team and added to an agreed backlog. This ensures that available support capacity is used on the work that provides the greatest value.

Can Astonous help with urgent Salesforce issues?

Yes. Urgent production issues can be handled according to the support coverage and response terms agreed in your Continuous Care plan. Examples may include users being unable to complete a critical process, failed integrations, broken automation, deployment problems, or unexpected access issues. Response and resolution commitments should be documented clearly in the service agreement.

Do you provide a service-level agreement?

A service-level agreement can be defined based on the selected support model. The agreement may cover service hours, request priorities, initial response targets, escalation procedures, communication channels, and customer responsibilities. Response time is different from resolution time because the time required to fix an issue depends on its cause, complexity, system access, and involvement of third-party providers.

How many support hours do we need each month?

The required capacity depends on the size of your Salesforce org, number of users, complexity, existing backlog, integrations, and planned improvements.
A smaller organisation may need only part-time administrative and consulting support. A business with multiple Salesforce clouds, integrations, and active development may need a dedicated consultant or team. We recommend an appropriate starting model after reviewing your current environment and expected workload.

Can we increase or reduce our Salesforce support capacity?

Yes. Continuous Care is designed to be flexible.
Support capacity can be reviewed as your workload changes. You may need additional help during a major release, integration project, business expansion, or internal team transition and less capacity when the backlog becomes smaller.

What happens if we do not use all our hours?

The treatment of unused capacity depends on the selected Continuous Care plan.
Any rollover period, expiry rules, minimum commitment, and conditions for using unused hours should be clearly stated in the proposal. This avoids confusion and helps both teams plan resources responsibly.

Can Continuous Care handle both small requests and larger projects?

Yes. Routine requests can be handled through the ongoing support plan.
A larger initiative such as implementing a new Salesforce cloud, rebuilding a major integration, or redesigning an entire business process may be estimated and managed as a separate project. This prevents a major initiative from consuming all the capacity needed for day-to-day support.

How do you test and deploy Salesforce changes?

Changes are normally built and tested outside the production environment.
Depending on the size and maturity of the Salesforce org, the process may include sandboxes, source control, peer review, automated tests, user acceptance testing, deployment approval, and post-deployment validation.
The release process is adjusted to match the complexity and risk of the environment.

Do you maintain Salesforce documentation and source control?

Yes. Documentation and source control are important parts of reliable Salesforce support.
We can maintain technical documentation, configuration notes, integration details, deployment records, user guidance, and decision history. Custom code and relevant metadata can be maintained in a Git repository to provide better change tracking and release control.

Can you help prepare for Salesforce platform releases?

Yes. We can review upcoming Salesforce changes, identify features or retirements that may affect your org, and test important processes where required.
We can also help evaluate new Salesforce capabilities that may replace custom development or improve existing business processes.

Can Astonous help improve Salesforce data quality?

Yes. Data-quality support can include duplicate management, validation rules, required-field reviews, data cleanup, import assistance, ownership corrections, and reporting improvements.
We also look for the process causing the bad data. Cleaning existing records without correcting the underlying process usually allows the same problem to return.

Can you train our Salesforce users and internal administrators?

Yes. We can provide training for end users, managers, new employees, and internal Salesforce administrators.
Training can focus on daily business processes, reports, dashboards, new functionality, administration, or knowledge transfer. We can also create user guides and recorded demonstrations for future onboarding.

Can Continuous Care work alongside our internal Salesforce team?

Yes. Astonous can complement rather than replace your internal team.
For example, your administrator may handle daily configuration while Astonous supports development, integrations, architecture, complex troubleshooting, and release management. Responsibilities are agreed clearly so that work is not duplicated.

How do you protect our Salesforce data and system access?

Access is limited to authorised team members and should follow the principle of least privilege.
We can work under a mutual non-disclosure agreement and follow your organisation’s access, security, credential-management, and data-handling policies. Access should be reviewed regularly and removed when it is no longer required.

Can Astonous support customers in different time zones?

Yes. Astonous works remotely with customers in different regions.
Working-hour overlap, meeting times, communication expectations, and support coverage are agreed before the engagement begins. Important discussions, demonstrations, and deployments are scheduled collaboratively.

How much do Salesforce managed services cost?

The cost depends on the required monthly capacity, skill level, support coverage, Salesforce products, integrations, and complexity of the environment.
A shared or part-time consultant generally provides a more budget-friendly option for organisations with intermittent requirements. A dedicated consultant or team is more suitable when there is a consistent workload and an active development roadmap.
After reviewing your needs, Astonous provides a clear proposal covering scope, capacity, responsibilities, and commercial terms.

Why choose Astonous as your Salesforce managed services partner?

Astonous Continuous Care gives you more than a help desk. You gain a Salesforce partner that understands your CRM, supports users, resolves issues, and helps the platform evolve with your business.
Our flexible model allows you to choose shared, part-time, or dedicated support. You receive access to administrators, consultants, developers, and architects without having to build and maintain a complete internal Salesforce team.
The objective is simple: keep Salesforce reliable today while continuing to improve the value it delivers tomorrow.
